KILLONA, La. (AP) -- St. Charles Parish sheriff's deputies say a prisoner who escaped from the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in Killona is back in custody.
Deputies captured 35-year-old Charles J. Conrad III at a hotel Tuesday in Kenner. He was working in the jail's kitchen when he climbed over a fence near a trash bin early in the morning.
Authorities say investigators learned Conrad contacted 36-year-old Erica Williams allegedly to pick him up. Williams was arrested later Tuesday at her home in Kenner. She faces a charge of principle to escape.
Conrad, a state Department of Corrections prisoner, was being held on charges of armed robbery and second-degree battery and has family in the St. Rose and Kenner areas.
Conrad was returned to custody without incident.
