NEW ORLEANS -- Callous, cowardly and cruel – that's how police are describing a violent carjacking in Algiers.
It happened last month in the 5100 block of General De Gaulle, and Thursday police made a final arrest in the case.
Police say 27-year-old Fernando Eyzaguirre was on his way to the gym when he was gunned down by a group of young people last month.
Police found Eyzaguirre’s body in the parking lot of this strip mall. The gunmen stole his 2007 Honda Accord, which was later found in Waveland, Miss.
Just over a month later, police have announced the fifth and final arrest in this chilling crime.
Milton Wilson, 17, was found in the 12000 block of I-10 Service Road. He is charged with first-degree murder and carjacking.
Mark Simmons, 20, and Jaroid Washington, 17, have been booked on the same charges.
Two others have been charged as well. Police say Erin Joseph Doucet, 17, was driving the car.
He’s charged with principal to first-degree murder and carjacking. Desmonique Reed is charged with accessory after the fact.
Police say the arrests are the product of community tips and good detective work.
They say the victim didn't know the killers and was mind his own business.
“This case, as you remember last month, is a horrific example of one of the worst homicides I've ever had to see on film in my 30 plus years in law enforcement,” said NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas.
