GALLIANO, La. – The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who they say raped a woman after holding her captive inside his home over the weekend.

According to the sheriff’s office, at around 12:15 p.m. Monday, deputies went to 27-year-old Lee Hartman’s house where he had allegedly been holding a woman against her will since Friday January 27.

Through the investigation, detectives learned that Hartman and the woman were arguing Friday night and Hartman did not let the woman leave the house or use her telephone, threatening her with several knives and other objects throughout the weekend. Hartman was reportedly acting strange and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.

The sheriff’s office says that at one point, Hartman allegedly forced the woman to have sexual intercourse against her will, again threatening the woman with a knife. He also allegedly poked her in the eye with an object and threatened to kill the woman if she called police.

At one point on the morning of Monday January 27, another man arrived at the house and began arguing with Hartman, at which point the woman was able to call police.

Deputies arrived and took Hartman into custody without incident. Hartman admitted to some aspects of the incident but claimed he could not remember everything that happened over the weekend. He also admitted to smoking Methamphetamine on Friday night, prior to the incident.

Hartman was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he was booked with aggravated rape, aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, and false imprisonment while armed with a dangerous weapon. He was also found to have an existing warrant for contempt of court and was booked accordingly. He is being held on a $450,200 bond.
