In most of the country, the National Night Out Against Crime is held on the first weekend of August, but a couple of years ago, some parishes in Metro New Orleans moved their local events to the second Tuesday of October, when the weather is usually a bit more pleasant.

Joining the Eyewitness Morning News to talk about how effective the now 30-year-old anti-crime campaign is and how to get involved, is Darlene Cusanza of Crimestoppers, and to discuss Jefferson Parish's community party is Councilwoman Cynthia Lee Sheng.

Crimestoppers will be hosting a 30th anniversary National Night Out Against Crime celebration at the Bonnabel Boat Launch from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and for more information, go to the Crimestoppers website, which is also where there is information on how to register your neighborhood party with your police department.
