NEW ORLEANS – The Guardian Angels are going door-to-door in Algiers Point handing out wanted posters in an attempt to help the police find a suspect wanted for the murder of a Good Samaritan who tried to intervene in an apparent carjacking earlier this week.
Harry “Michael” Ainsworth was shot to death in front of his young sons as he thwarted the potential carjacking.
A composite sketch was issued of the suspect, but so far there has been no information on if police have solid leads.
The FBI has offered its assistance in the case.
“We all knew Mike,” said Robert McClintock of the Guardian Angels. “In a time in the city where the criminal element places no value on human life we just want people to know there are a lot of good people that do.
“The more people that help out, the sooner the scumbag will be caught.”
