JEFFERSON PARISH, La. -- Sheriff Newell Normand announced the arrest of seven people for allegedly manufacturing synthetic marijuana. Normand made the announcement at a press conference with truckloads of synthetic narcotics seized by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office as a backdrop.
Jefferson Parish authorities confiscated a large stash of synthetic marijuana, plus chemicals used to make it, said Normand.
Normand said the growing popularity of synthetic drugs has made it tough for the local authorities stay ahead of the game.
