HARVEY, La. -- The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office refused media requests Thursday for public documents related to the arrest of a Harvey man linked to the death of six-year-old Ahlittia North.

A spokesman for the department told Eyewitness News neither the sheriff's office nor the district attorney's offices will release the so-called charging documents at this time.

Requests for the affidavits were also refused because there are no public documents to release, according to parish Criminal Court Commissioner Caroline Kiff.

The booking sheet at the parish correctional center only stated Matthew Flugence was placed under arrest relative to outstanding writs issued by Kiff and commissioner Patricia Joyce.

Flugence is charged with first degree murder and sexual battery, said Col. John Fortunato who said the investigation was ongoing.

Flugence will not be allowed to bond out of jail because of the murder charge.
