KENNER, La. – A Metairie man returning to the metro area was arrested at Louis Armstrong International Airport for a bank robbery on Veterans Boulevard earlier in April, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Bruce Padilla, 33, was arrested Monday, said Col. John Fortunato.  Padilla had been identified as a suspect for an armed robbery on April 12 at the Metairie Bank in the 7100 block of Veterans Boulevard - a bank only several blocks from Padilla's apartment.

According to Fortunato, Padilla confessed to the crime after being picked up by authorities at the airport. He was booked in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on one count of armed robbery.
