RESERVE, La. -- Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in St. John the Baptist Parish, according to Sheriff Mike Tregre.

Wednesday evening, Donovan Baily, 29, died at  River Parishes Hospital after being shot in the chest, according to the sheriff's office.

Around 11:30 p.m., Bailey and two friends had drop off some acquaintances on East 24th Street, and as they were leaving, Bailey's vehicle was fired upon, according to the sheriff's office. Bailey was only one injured in the vehicle.

One of Bailey's friends drove the vehcile to the hospital, according to the sheriff's office, where the victim later died.
