NEW ORLEANS -- A violent day in New Orleans was capped off Tuesday night with a shooting in the 7th Ward, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of Pauger Street.
NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot said a man was shot in the thigh at that location.
Police haven't released any information on a possible suspect or a motive.
The man is the ninth gunshot victim of the day. Around 3 p.m. the NOPD investigated three separate shootings that left one person dead and two others shot.
Later, around 6 p.m., a 5-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman were killed in a hail of gunfire at an 8-year-old's birthday party that also left an 8-year-old boy, 19-year-old man and 24-year-old man injured.
