HARVEY, La. -- The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says the suspect arrested for the stabbing death of a 6-year-old girl in Harvey, whose body was later found in a trashcan, is facing new charges.

Matthew Flugence has been held without bail since his arrest in July in connection with the death of Ahlittia North.

According to investigators Flugence may have also broken into his ex-girlfriend's house the same day as North's death and tacked his driver's license to a wall next to a 10-inch knife.

Flugence is currently facing one count of first-degree murder and a sexual battery charge. He now faces a burglary charge.
