CHALMETTE, La. – Two people are behind bars and another is sought for allegedly running a meth lab in Chalmette.

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann said the raid happened Wednesday afternoon after deputies received a report that three young children could be in danger at 14 West Chalmette Circle.

Two girls, a 5-month-old and a 7-year-old, and a 4-year-old boy lived in the home. They were taken to Children’s Hospital for examination.

Deputies arrested the mother of the children, 38-year-old Melissa Huy, and 34-year-old Rachel Butler in the incident. Deputies are searching for Huy’s husband, 26-year-old Dino Huy Jr. He’s currently on probation for possession of amphetamine.,

All three face charges of manufacture of methamphetamine and endangerment of juveniles.

Officers found bottles and ingredients from making meth in a shed behind the home that they say was used as a small meth operation.
