NEW ORLEANS - A woman shot her husband inside of their home after mistakenly thinking he was an intruder, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson said the victim, an unidentified 57-year-old man, was shot just after 11 a.m. at a home in the 5800 block of N. Claiborne Avenue.
Robertson said when the victim entered the home, his 53-year-old wife shot him once. The victim died in the hospital.
According to Robertson, the wife claimed that she believed her husband was an intruder.
No charges have been filed, but the case has been turned over to the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office.
