NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police have apprehended a suspect in connection with the murder of a man Wednesday night near Tchoupitoulas Street, but are still searching for the getaway driver.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Felicity and Tchoupitoulas streets at about 7 p.m.

Police say Dentri Lee, 23, shot and killed 22-year-old Billy McCormick.

Lee allegedly rode as a passenger in a Toyota Corolla that was reported stolen out of Jefferson Parish. The Corolla slammed into McCormick's vehicle, and police say Lee fired multiple shots at McCormick's car.

McCormick, who was shot once, died on the scene.

Police were alerted to Lee after he showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. They found the stolen vehicle not long after.

Lee faces one count of second-degree murder. He was already out on probation on possession of heroin and theft charges.

Police are still working to determine the identity of the driver of the stolen Corolla.
