Police arrested a 23-year-old man this weekend, finding stolen handgun and three-quarters of a pound of marijuana on him after a short chase near the lower Garden District.
According to police, 6th District officers were on patrol when they saw Corey Dillon’s gold Chevy cobalt ignore a red light at Annunciation and Felicity streets. They tried to pull him over, but he took flight, eventually crashing into a light pole.
Dillon then fled on foot, police said, before being caught by police on Rousseau Street.
Police found a semi-automatic Ruger 9 mm handgun with a 30-round magazine with 14 rounds left in it. The gun was reported stolen in an auto theft earlier.
Authorities said Dillon is a “person of interest” in an ongoing homicide investigation for a murder that happened in the 1200 block of Simon Bolivar.
