NEW ORLEANS -- Homicide detectives are looking into whether there is a connection between a body found shot and burned in New Orleans East last week and the home invasion of a police officer's wife two days earlier.
And, in separate developments, police have made two arrests in the home invasion in the past 24 hours.
The body of a light-complected woman with long dark hair was found in a remote area off the I-10 near Michoud blvd on June 30.
She had been shot multiple times, doused in an accelerant and burned, according to the coroner's office, which said it had tentatively identified her but not yet reached her next of kin.
Eyewitness News has learned homicide investigators are "exploring if there's a connection" between that victim and a person of interest in the home invasion of a police officer's wife two days earlier.
Video of the persons of interest police released last week includes images of a woman.
And eyewitnesses in the neighborhood where the home invasion took place told us a woman was there and appeared to lead four men to the officer's home.
In another development, police say two suspects who've been named in the home invasion are now behind bars.
Aranton Johnson was arrested Wednesday and Brandon Tucker on Thursday. Both are charged with attempted murder.
