NEW ORLEANS -- The NOPD is asking for your help identifying a man who they say sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint Tuesday morning.

It happened in the 2600 block of Cleveland Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. According to police, as the victim was leaving the house, she was approached by an unknown armed man who forced her into the alleyway of the house. The suspect robbed and sexually assaulted the victim and fled the scene.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect, which you can see above.

He's around 30 years old, 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He had a fit or athletic build with a light complexion. He was wearing a black, long-sleeved zippered windbreaker with a white detail along the seams, grey pants and a tan/orange “cargo” belt. He was armed with a handgun.

If you have any information in this case or can identify the man in the sketch, you’re also urged to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
