Police: Argument leads to shooting at CBD hotel

NEW ORLEANS - An argument between two men inside of a CBD hotel ended with one man shot and in critical condition and the shooter's female companion being accidentally shot in the foot, according to the NOPD.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the Wyndham Garden Baronne Stree Plaza hotel in the 200 block of Baronne.

According to police, a man identified as 29-year-old Kevin Cahill of New York, got into an argument with a 49-year-old Florida man. At some point, police said Cahill pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times, accidentally striking 27-year-old Sara Mott of New York in the foot in the process.

Police said Cahill and Mott fled the hotel and were apprehended nearby. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and Mott was taken to the hospital for her injured foot.

Police found drugs and a handgun in the hotel room, according to police.
 
Cahill will be booked with attempted murder, aggravated battery, principal to narcotics and felon with a firearm, according to the NOPD. Mott will be booked with second-degree battery upon her release from the hospital.
