NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD has arrested a man with an extensive arrest record who they believe shot and killed a business owner inside of his store two weeks ago.

Aaron Kisack, 31, was picked up by police Friday morning near Broad and Esplanade.

According to police, Kisack shot and killed the owner of a business in the 500 block of North Gayoso Street on May 29.

Police said Kisack was arguing with 46-year-old Aaron Holmes inside of Holmes' business when he pulled out a semi-automatic gun and shot Holmes in the stomach. Police said he then rifled through Holmes' belongings and then fled.

Police said several people came to police to describe Kisack as the gunman. Friday morning, police said someone in the community called to say they spotted Kisack and officers went over to pick him up.

“Our officers were able to get this suspect off the streets less than two weeks after he committed this heinous crime. His rap sheet, which is unbelievably extensive, is listed below. Again- we can thank people in the community for giving us the information we needed to do this”, said Superintendent Ronal Serpas.

Police said Kisack is a possible career criminal with 10 felony arrests, 33 misdemeanor arrests and two city arrests.
