NEW ORLEANS -- Police are searching for a man who stole a speaker system from a New Orleans East business last week.

The incident happened 11:30 p.m. in the 7900 block of Downman Road.

NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson said the suspect threw a brick through the store's window to gain entry. The suspect tried to steal a mounted flat screen television, but was unable to get it off the way, so he grabbed a speaker system instead and fled.

The burglary was caught on surveillance video.

While police haven't identified the suspect yet, they have released information about him. He's described as a black man who was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants and dark colored gloves.

If you know anything that can help investigators, call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
