NEW ORLEANS – Police are searching for a suspect who beat a woman and attempted to rob her and her friend early Friday morning in the Marigny Triangle, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Around 1:15 a.m. in the 1900 block of Burgundy Street, the victim was walking with a friend when a late model silver car, possibly a Honda Civic, pulled up next to them, police said.
A man exited the vehicle, grabbed one of the victims from behind, placed her in a headlock and hit her several times in the face, police said.
He then demanded the two women’s property before getting back into the car without taking anything from the victims, the NOPD said.
The suspect is described as a 5’10” black man with a thin build and light complexion.
Video surveillance in the area caught the suspect’s vehicle fleeing from the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
