NEW ORLEANS -- The FBI has upped the reward to $30,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the NOPD officer shot while responding to a robbery last month.
Officer John Passaro was the first to respond to a call of a robbery on Feb. 23 at the Dollar General Store on Poland Avenue and St. Claude. The suspect shot Passaro two times before fleeing.
The announcement was made at a Sunday afternoon press conference, with Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Superintendent Ronal Serpas present.
"Keep Officer Passaro and his family in your prayers," Landrieu said. "We need tips from community to find the man who shot him."
Serpas is asking all business owners in New Orleans to take a look at the suspect's sketch. He believes the suspect may have been fired recently from a local business.
Crimestoppers has received some tips on this, but needs more. Call 822-1111 if you know anything that can help investigators.
