ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. -- A Meraux woman and four accomplices were arrested by St. Bernard authorities as part of a burglary ring in which the woman would befriend men and leave windows ajar at the victims' homes to later burglarize, according to the sheriff's office spokesman Steve Cannizaro.

Bridgette Johnston, 25, and her half-brother, Brandon Johnston, 25, of Chalmette, were arrested deputies.

Bridgette Johnston, according to the sheriff's office, befriended several men and "when she came over to visit she also left a window unlocked for her half-brother and others to later enter and burglarize them," Sheriff-elect James Pohlmann said.

Also arrested were Nathan Reese, 32, of Mereaux, Eugene Minor, 23, of New Orleans, and Colen Glass, according to Cannizaro.

"Detectives believed the group may have been responsible for other recent burglaries also," said Cannizaro.
