TERRYTOWN, La. -- A SWAT roll ended Monday night in Terrytown after deputies discovered a body that appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident happened at Gerry's Place Bar in the 1000 block of Behrmann Highway in Terrytown at about 5:30 p.m.

Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, said deputies were responding to reports of gunshots at abotu 5:30 p.m.

When they arrived on the scene, officers met with employees of the bar who said a man was in a room in the back of the business. They had heard gunshots come from that room.

After a negotiator was unable to get a response from anyone inside of the room, SWAT members entered to find the man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They pronounced the man dead on the scene.

The man hasn't been identified. No other injuries were reported.

If you know anything that can help investigators, call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
