HARVEY, La. – A 24-year-old man robbed a construction worker at gunpoint and then fired at the victim during his getaway attempt Thursday morning on Manhattan Blvd., according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Denard Harris was booked for one count of armed robbery after being apprehended.
According to Sheriff Newell Normand, Harris confronted a 63-year-old man around 8:15 a.m. and demanded his property at gunpoint.
As Harris fled the scene, Normand said the victim told co-workers about the holdup and the victim got into a car to pursue Harris.
During the pursuit, Normand said Harris fired at the victim.
Deputies later spotted Harris walking and he fled into some vacant apartments nearby. He was found trying to hide in a business in the 2300 block of Manhattan.
