NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Police Department has released surveillance video of an armed robbery at a convenience store in New Orleans East, and the department is asking the public's help in identifying the suspect.
The robbery happened around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 in the 4900 block of Downman Road. NOPD spokesman Officer Frank B. Robertson said the suspect was crawling on the ground with a gun before a store employee noticed him.
The suspect then stood up, jumped over the counter and demanded money from the cashier. The employee gave cigarettes and $200 to the suspect, who then fled the scene.
The suspect is a black man who was wearing black and pink gloves, a dark colored jacket and a grey hooded jacket underneath. He was also wearing a ski mask to cover up his face.
