NEW ORLEANS - The two juveniles who were booked in connection with the kidnap, robbery and rape of a Garden District woman will be tried as adults.
Attorneys for Sheldon Jefferson, 15, and Joseph Davis, 16, appeared in juvenile court this afternoon and stipulated to probable cause in the case. Now, the case moves to state court.
District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said he intends to try them as adults.
The two teens, along with a 18-year-old Christopher Davis, are accused of approaching the woman at gunpoint and ordering her into her car. Police said one of the juveniles said they drove the victim around and sexually assaulted her before dropping her off close to where she was taken.
The suspects drove off in the victim's car, which was discovered a few days later.
The incident occurred on Feb. 4 near the intersection of Chestnut and Eighth.
