NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police have arrested a teenager in connection with a murder last month in Algiers.
Julian Benjamin, 19, was booked with the second-degree murder of 20-year-old Jarmon Smith, who was shot and killed May 1 at the intersection of Herschel Street and West Bend Parkway.
Benjamin allegedly rode up to Smith in a silver, 4-door car -- which was occupied with three other men -- and shot him six times before fleeing.
NOPD spokeswoman Remi Braden said Benjamin was already in custody for an armed robbery that happened after the murder. He has since been re-booked with the murder charge.
“Detectives were able to clear this case because of their ability to work with people in this community and their determination to identify and arrest this suspect”, said Superintendent Ronal Serpas.
