NEW ORLEANS -- Two men were arrested for selling nitrous oxide balloons on Frenchmen Street early Thursday.
According to a report from the New Orleans Police Department, around 1 a.m. police detectives were called to the 500 block of Frenchmen Street.
"Upon arrival, detectives located the suspect, who was accepting cash for balloons that he filled with nitrous oxide from a tank," said a police report. Dale Fitzpatrick, 50, was arrested by officers.
Around 4 a.m., detectives arrested a second man, Grant McDaniel, 31, in the same block of Frenchmen Street. McDaniel was also selling nitrous oxide, police contend.
Detectives learned Fitzpatrick and Daniel had been working together. They obtained a search warrant for their vehicle and inside found 11 more tanks containing nitrous oxide.
The men were booked with distribution of a dangerous chemical and possession with the intent to distribute a dangerous chemical.
