NEW ORLEANS - Police and U.S. Marshals have arrested two men they believe are responsible for at least four home burglaries over the past two weeks in the Uptown area.
Rosel Gillen-Mendez, 17; and Daniel Adams, 20; were arrested at a homeless encampment. Gillen-Mendez was apparently also being sought for two counts of armed robbery in Virginia.
At the time of the arrest, U.S. Marshals, who were tracking the Virginia crimes, found various items including cellular phones, laptops and car keys that tied Gillen-Mendez to the Uptown crimes.
Some of the items matched items stolen from a residence on Richmond Street, and the follow-up investigation led detectives to arrest Adams and Gillen-Mendez for additional burglaries on Octavia, Wirth Place and State Street.
Detectives continue to investigate to see if the two can be tied to other crimes.
