JPSO: Man dies after being shot in Woodmere

HARVEY, La -- Deputies are investigating a shooting in Woodmere Wednesday night.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said a man was shot just before 9 p.m. in the 2200 block of Alex Kornman Boulevard.

According to JPSO, a deputy was patrolling the neighborhood when he heard gunshots. When the deputy got to Alex Kornman Boulevard, he found several vehicles near the 2200 block with bullet holes. Witnesses told the deputy a man had been shot and was on the way to the hospital.

JPSO said the man arrived at Ochsner Medical Center West Bank moments later with a gunshot wound to the face and was brought into surgery for treatment. While medics tried to get the man to University Hospital, he died, deputies said.

The man's name has not been released, pending family notification.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. A suspect or motive have not been determined.
