LAPLACE, La. – The St. John Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man they said shot a woman in the arm Friday and left her for dead.
Royce Burse, 28, was booked with second-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Samantha Griffin.
Deputies said around 9 p.m. Sept. 16, they arrived at an apartment in the 300 block of E. Arline Highway. Griffin was found with a gunshot wound to the arm, and died at the scene, deputies said.
A day after Griffin was shot, Burse was arrested on unrelated drug and parole violation charges. During the investigation, detectives said they found a weapon and ammunition used in the shooting and believe robbery could be the motive.
Burse remains in the Sherman walker Corrections Center in lieu of a $766,500 bond.
