Man killed in early morning shooting in New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - Police say a man was killed after a shooting in New Orleans East early Friday morning.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting happened around 1:37 a.m. in the 7000 block of Yorktown Drive.

Officers arriving at the scene found a man lying face down in a doorway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where later died.

Police are gathering evidence and information to identify the motive for the shooting and the person responsible.

 “No further information is available at this time,” a spokesperson for the NOPD said.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim’s name at a later time.
