Man leads police on chase through Metairie, Kenner, before crashing

KENNER, La. -- A man is in jail after police said he led them on a chase through Metairie and Kenner Tuesday night.

Police said at about 11 p.m. Sept. 6, they received a stolen hit on a 2006 Honda Accord that Donald Harris, 25, was driving. The car had been reported stolen two days earlier from a Kenner home. When police tried to pull the car over, they said Harris refused to stop and led officers on a chase into Metairie and back to Kenner. He eventually lost control of the car, and that's when police said he crashed into two telephone poles on Vintage Drive.

Harris had minor injuries from the wreck and was released into police custody after being brought to an area hospital.

Police said they also found two Tramadol pills in the Accord when Harris was arrested. Tramadol is classified as a controlled dangerous substance.
