Man wanted for trying to steal gun from pawn store, police say

NEW ORLEANS – Police released photos Monday of a man they said tried to break the display of a Gentilly pawn store to steal a gun.

The incident happened Oct. 6 around 5 p.m. in the 3000 block of Gentilly Boulevard.

Police said the man asked about buying a gun and was told to get a ticket and wait in line. Police said the man went to the gun counter, then took something out of his shorts and began striking a display holding several guns. When an employee confronted the man, police said he ran out of the store.

Anyone with information on this subject is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
