Sept. 18: 6000 Dauphine Street
NEW ORLEANS -- The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has ruled the death of a 16-year-old boy a homicide by shooting. The teenager was fatally shot in the 6000 block of Dauphine Street Wednesday around 9 p.m.
When police arrived at the location in the Holy Cross neighborhood, the teenager, identified as Lernard Hurst, was found by officers lying on the floor of a bedroom. He had been shot once to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The death was initially ruled unclassified by police, pending an autopsy from the coroner.
According to police, the teenager and several other people were recording music at the location when a single gunshot sounded in the studio.
