NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Police Department investigated two separate shootings in Central City that happened within an hour of each other on Sunday night. One of the shootings was fatal.

A man was fatally shot shortly after 8:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of S. Galvez Street. He was located lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the NOPD.

The second shooting happened just over 30 minutes later at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Freret Street.  A man was shot in the face, but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
