NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police are investigating two fatal shootings that occurred overnight Wednesday, in different parts of the city.
The first shooting happened just before 11 p.m. in Central City.
Police say they found a 59-year-old woman in a home in the 2000 block of South Liberty Street with a single gunshot wound to her head.
She was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police. The murder is the third murder of a woman in the 6th NOPD District since Monday.
The murder Wednesday evening occurred a block from where a woman, Raquelle Guillory, was killed two days earlier in the 2300 block of Josephine Street. A second woman, Lanisha Scott, was also fatally shot in the 6th District on Apr. 12., near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Dryades Street.
About 5 minutes after the Central City shooting, in New Orleans East, police were called to the scene of a silver Nissan Titan pickup truck that hit a home in the 8400 block of Lomond Road.
Officers found the 38-year-old driver suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The male victim was also pronounced dead on the scene, according to police. The victim is the fifth murder victim in New Orleans since Monday.
Police have not released the identitiy of either victim pending the notification of their family memebers.
Police also have no suspect or motive in either one of these deadly shootings at this time.
