NOPD: Armed carjackers kidnap man, force him to drive to ATM

NEW ORLEANS – Police are looking for a man they said jumped into a car in New Orleans East and ordered a man to multiples ATMs before taking his car.

The incident happened Friday, Sept. 2 around 9 a.m.

Police said Shawn Moore and an accomplice jumped into a vehicle as a man sat in a parking lot near Chef Menteur Highway and America Street. The victim said he was told to drive to several ATMs in the New Orleans East area and withdraw money. The suspects then ordered the man to drive around, police said. During that time investigators think Moore leaned out of the window of the vehicle and fired several shots at three people with a handgun.

After police said the victim pleaded for his life, the suspects let him go and took his vehicle. The vehicle was found by police a short time later.

Police said Moore should be considered armed and dangerous. Investigators are still working to identify the other suspect.

Once found, police said Moore will be booked with armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated assault.
Anyone with information about Moore is asked to call 7th District Detectives at (504) 658-6070.
