NOPD: Jimmy John's robbery suspect connected to 5 other robberies

Police are looking for 47-year-old Kenneth Barnes, who they say has robbed a number of area businesses.

NEW ORLEANS – Police are looking for a man they say has been behind at least six armed robberies in the city.

Kenneth Barnes, 47, is wanted for a number of armed robberies across town, dating back to March.

Police said Barnes’ most recent robbery was Saturday at the Jimmy John's in the 7600 block of Maple Street. Police said he came into the store armed with a box cutter, went behind the counter and demanded money from employees. Investigators believe Barnes left the store in a white van.

The day before, police said Barnes went to the Shell Gas Station in the 600 block of N. Carrollton Avenue. Around 8 p.m., police said Barnes threatened the cashier with a box cutter and demanded money.

Investigators said he has also robbed four other businesses, including the Smoothie King on N. Carrollton Avenue, Maple Street Bookstore, and two area Rite Aids.

Barnes also has warrants for other crimes committed throughout the city, police said.

Anyone with information on Barnes or his whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
