NOPD: Man arrested after robbing, fighting woman over intended drug money

NEW ORLEANS – A man is in jail Tuesday after police said he robbed a woman in the Lower Garden District.

The incident happened Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Magazine and Calliope streets around 9 p.m.

Police said a woman told them Rashad Brown, 29, confronted her and demanded she give him money to buy narcotics. When she refused, the woman said Brown pushed her to the ground. Police said a fight followed and the woman bit Brown. However, Brown got away with the victim’s cash and cellphone before running away, police said.

Shortly after the incident was reported, police spotted Brown walking near Calliope Street and St. Charles Avenue.

They said Brown appeared to be covered in blood and had a bite mark on his upper right arm.

Brown was booked with simple robbery.
