NOPD recruit booked in North Shore burglary

MANDEVILLE, La. – An NOPD recruit was booked Thursday in connection with a burglary at a North Shore salon.

According to Mandeville Police Department, 21-year-old Jacob Dye went to a salon in the 3400 block of E. Causeway Approach the morning of Oct. 18. Surveillance footage showed a suspect wearing a gray hoodie and gloves. Police said Dye went through the back door before taking the cash box and an unknown amount of money.

Investigators said he got into the building by using a relative’s access device without her knowing.

Dye was charged with one count of simple burglary of a business.

NOPD officials said Dye is a recruit in field training and has been placed on emergency suspension without pay.
