NOPD: Two men wanted for shooting assault rifles into traffic as victim hid behind car

NEW ORLEANS – Police are looking for two men they believe shot assault rifles at a man as he hid behind a car in the middle of traffic.

Authorities said Tuesday, Sept. 6 around 1 p.m. police were called to the 3700 block of S. Broad Street after reports of gunfire.

Police said witnesses told them two men were seen wearing masks and shooting at another man with AK-47s. The victim then started running onto S. Broad Street, causing traffic to stop as he hid behind a car. Police said the car was hit numerous times by the gunfire. Both men were seen running behind an abandoned home on Gen. Taylor Street, and witnesses said they came back out without the masks, shirts or guns.
