One dead, two hurt in three shootings in N.O. East

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the first shooting happened around 3:06 a.m. in the 4800 block of Nottingham Drive. A 21-year-old victim was shot in the shoulder in that shooting.

NEW ORLEANS - Police say one person is dead and two others were wounded in three shootings just blocks apart in New Orleans east Monday morning.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the first shooting happened around 3:06 a.m. in the 4800 block of Nottingham Drive. A 21-year-old victim was shot in the shoulder in that shooting.

Police did not say if the injuries were life-threatening.

“No further information at this time,” a statement from the NOPD said.

Investigators say a second person was hurt around 3:40 a.m. near the intersection of Tynecastle Drive and Pressburg Street. The second shooting occurred just 8 blocks away from the first shooting.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the ankle in the second shooting. The man was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.

Police began investigating a third incident in in the 4900 block of Major Drive around 7:21 a.m. Police say the call was first reported as an unclassified death but later reclassified as a fatal shooting.

Police are investigating the Major Drive shooting as a murder. The victim was later identified as 22-year-old Taibe Coleman.

"No further information is currently available," a spokesperson for the NOPD said.

It is unclear if the three incident are connected.
