Police investigate 3 overnight shootings between Orleans, Jefferson parishes

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Police Department and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office collectively reported three shootings overnight.

According to the two agencies, four people were shot in three separate shootings between the two parishes before 5 a.m. on Oct. 28. All four victims are expected to survive.

The first shooting was reported around 12:21 a.m. in NOPD's 5th District which covers several neighborhoods including the Marigny, Bywater and 9th Ward.The lone victim arrived at the hospital by private conveyance with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Police are working to determine the shooting's location.

The second of the morning shooting occurred in Jefferson Parish.

According to a preliminary report from JPSO, an unidentified male victim was shot near the corner of Sam Lenoux Street and S. Causeway Boulevard. The report came in around 1:13 a.m.

About three hours later, a double shooting was reported to NOPD.

According to a preliminary report from NOPD, two people were shot near the corner of St. Bernard Avenue and N. Villere Street.

"Officers are still investigating to determine the exact facts about the shooting," a release from NOPD said.

Eye witness news will continue to follow these shootings and update this story as more information becomes available.
