Report: Juvenile suspect arrested after robbing gas station at knifepoint

Police arrested a juvenile suspect who allegedly robbed a Shell gas station at knifepoint Saturday.

According to a preliminary report from NOPD, a male juvenile walked into the back of the Shell gas station in the 3400 block of Esplanade Avenue aound 6 p.m. and put on a ski mask. He then approached the cashier armed with a knife and demanded money and cigarettes.

The cashier complied, according to police, and the young robber fled with $365 in cash and 20 boxes of cigarettes.

Police say a witness followed the suspect back to a residence where he was arrested.
