NEW ORLEANS - Several shootings across the metro area left seven people injured and a person dead in a violent four-hour span Monday evening.
Four people were shot in both Jefferson and Orleans parishes in five separate incidents.
In Jefferson Parish the violence began in Marrero, where two men were shot in the 2000 block of Lincolnshire Drive around 5:45 p.m. Both of those victims were shot in the head, and one of the men, Robert Curtis, 29, was pronounced dead on the scene. The other, Alton Perry, 44, was transferred to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
The other double shooting in Jefferson Parish happened in Metairie, where a man and a woman were shot in the 2300 block of Caswell Lane in Metairie around 8 p.m. Detectives said the injuries were not life threatening.
In Orleans Parish gunfire bursted out in the Irish Channel around 8:30 p.m. One man was found shot in the head and chest and another found shot in the leg near the intersection of Annunciation Street and Washington Avenue. Both were rushed to the hospital.
Around the same time, another man was found shot in the hand in the 2000 block of Second Street. Police are looking into whether the incident on Annunciation and Washington and the incident on Second Street are related.
Also in New Orleans, a woman was shot in the buttocks in the 2300 block of St. Andrew Street around 7:30 p.m. She was rushed to the hospital, although her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Police haven't released any information on a suspect or a motive in any of these shootings.
