A witness told police that they saw Zamora walking with 52-year-old David Mayes when, without provocation, Zamora punched Mayes several times, knocking him out. According to police, Zamora then walked away, but returned soon after with a black male identified by police as 39-year-old Christopher Powell.

Powell and Zamora then robbed Mayes while he was unconscious before leaving again, according to police.

Zamora then returned a second time and repeatedly kicked Mayes while he was down according to JPSO. Mayes would later be taken to University Hospital by EMS where he underwent surgery, but ultimately died on Oct. 22.

Anyone with information on Zamora's location is asked to call JPSO's homicide division at 504-364-5300 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 504-822-1111.
