Man arrested for stabbing woman working at Metairie gas station, JPSO says

Man arrested for stabbing woman in Metairie

Early Friday morning, a 49-year-old woman working at a Shell gas station near the intersection of W. Esplanade Avenue and Clearview Parkway was stabbed multiple times, according to reports from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, March 3.

JPSO says the cashier told investigators a male suspect walked into the store yelling and screaming, and for no apparent reason, began attacking her.

After stabbing and beating the victim numerous times, deputies say the suspect fled without taking anything.

Deputies later arrested David Reeves, 31, of Metairie. According to the JPSO, he is being booked with attempted first-degree murder.

As authorities were executing a warrant at Reeves' home on Zenith Street, he was "reluctant to surrender" and a JPSO SWAT was called. Reeves surrendered to the JPSO shortly after.

The victim was transported to the hospital where she is listed in stable condition. Her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information in this matter is asked to contact the JPSO Homicide Division at 504-364-5300 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 822-1111.
