BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals announced the partial reopening of three oyster harvesting areas after no oil was detected in the areas.
The reopenings cover oyster harvesting areas 14, 15 and 17. Click here to see a map
The harvesting areas are west of the Mississippi River in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes. The harvesting areas were closed as a precaution in anticipation of possible oil intrusion.
Areas 2, 3, 8, 11, through 13, portions of areas 14, 15 and 17 south of the current reopening, and 23 remain closed. In addition, areas 9, 10, 19 and 21 remain partially closed. All other areas are open.
